Book Review#21: The Enchanted Carousel by Shari Penny

Chloe is not happy. Why must she be carted off to spend two weeks of her precious vacation in an ancient house with her grandmother Crystal, when there are so many fun things she could be doing with her friends?

She is forbidden to go up in the attic – but so what? Chloe is going up there whatever her grandma says.

Among the ancient treasures in the attic, Chloe finds an old journal. It’s not long before she is caught up in the story of Crystal and Matt as they try to reunite the restless spirit of a young girl with her father. To do this, they must follow the clues to find the enchanted carousel with the help of some unusual characters.

She is entranced by the enchanting tale, but is it a story or can it possibly be true? Chloe will soon find out – and along the way she will learn something about the magic of friendship and the bonds of family love…

THE ENCHANTED CAROUSEL by SHARI PENNY is a tale about a twelve year old girl Chloe who was forced to spent her time with her Grandmother who lives far away from the city life, no phone, no internet, simply no social fun, while she wanted to spend her vacations with her friends.

But against Chloe’s wish she was sent off to her grandmother’s house where she decided to disobey whatever her grandmother says no matter what, even she was prohibited to visit some areas of the house, especially the attic.

One day Chloe took the keys of the attic by fooling her grandmother, but less she knows that the way towards the attic is going to change her perspectives towards her life and her relations for forever!

As a middle grade sucker when i got the offer to review this ARC from Pegasus Publishers I couldn’t resist it. I started reading this one as I received the ebook and begun my reading quest just before my mid semester exams, and trust me when I say that I finished this book overnight even when I took some reading time due to my exams, but I couldn’t stop myself from reading it completely and thus this book becomes one of mine most favourite middle grade book of the year.

Although this book contains a list of characters but Chloe is the outstanding character for me even though the books main concern is Chloe’s grandmother Crystal. I basically liked the way the author developed her character from the start till end, how she knock some sensibility and responsibilities in her. And the tale the Author narrates is so charismatic, like i absolutely feels like i’m that i’m not  just the reader it feels like i’m actually on a quest.

Shari Penny has done a fantastic job while writing her debut book and i’m glad that I got the chance to read it as well. such a terrific yet a fascinating tale.
